LostPropertyFinder.com is a free service that helps you find out whether you, your family, or your business may have unclaimed property waiting, and shows you how to claim it.
Two things we want you to know right up front. First, we are not a government agency and we are not affiliated with any state unclaimed property office. Second, you never have to pay anyone to claim your own property. You can always file your claim yourself, for free, directly with the state. We are happy to help, but the free path is always yours.

By accessing or using LostPropertyFinder.com (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you and Shoeboxed, Inc. ("we," "us," "our"), a North Carolina corporation with its principal office in Durham, North Carolina.
LostPropertyFinder.com is a private company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any state unclaimed property office, treasury department, or any other government agency.
Every U.S. state lets you search for and claim your own unclaimed property for free, directly with the state. You do not need us, or anyone else, to do it. We provide free information and tools to make that easier, and we link you to the official state website wherever we can.
LostPropertyFinder.com lets you search information published by state governments about unclaimed property, and provides free guidance on how to claim it. The information on our site comes from public records released by the states.
We may also offer an optional, paid service to help you prepare and file a claim. Any paid service is entirely optional, is never required to claim your property, and is governed by a separate written agreement that clearly states all fees and terms before you agree to anything. Nothing on this site obligates you to buy a paid service.
The unclaimed property information we show comes from records published by the states. That data can be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect, and states update it on their own schedules. A name or amount appearing on our site does not guarantee that you have unclaimed property, that the amount is accurate, or that a claim will be approved.

These Terms govern your general use of the website. Any paid service is governed by its own separate agreement, which controls if the two ever conflict on the subject of that service.
The LostPropertyFinder.com name, logo, website design, and underlying software are the property of Shoeboxed, Inc. and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our Service without our prior written consent. The underlying public records themselves are government data and are not owned by us.
You retain ownership of any information you enter into the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and process that information solely to provide the Service to you.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that the unclaimed property information provided is accurate, complete, or current; or that any claim you submit will be accepted by any state. Decisions about claims are made solely by the relevant state office, not by us.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SHOEBOXED, INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE FREE SERVICE EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00). IF YOU PURCHASE AN OPTIONAL PAID SERVICE, OUR LIABILITY RELATED TO THAT SERVICE IS LIMITED AS SET OUT IN ITS SEPARATE AGREEMENT.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Shoeboxed, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or in connection with:
We strive to keep LostPropertyFinder.com available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
You agree that any agreement between you and the Company, including any optional paid-service agreement, may be executed and delivered by electronic signature, and that electronic signatures are the same as handwritten signatures for purposes of validity, enforceability, and admissibility.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Durham County, North Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. If you have a concern, please first try to resolve it informally by contacting us.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Shoeboxed, Inc. regarding your use of the website and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications, whether written or oral. Any optional paid service is additionally governed by its own separate agreement.
